Well, let me tell ya ’bout this .090 aluminum sheet, the 4×8 kind. You know, the kinda stuff you see around for all sorts of things.
What is this .090 aluminum sheet anyway?

Now, this .090, that’s just how thick it is. Not too thick, not too thin, just right for a whole bunch of stuff. And 4×8? That’s the size, like a big ol’ piece of somethin’, four feet wide and eight feet long. They measure it all fancy-like, but that’s all it means. You can get different sizes, but this 4×8, that’s a good one, you can do a lot with it.
- Thickness: .090 inches
- Size: 4 feet by 8 feet
Where can you use this thing?
Shoot, you can use it for near ’bout anything! I seen folks use it to fix up their cars, make little sheds, even patch up holes in the barn roof. It’s strong but not too heavy, so it’s easy to work with. One fella, he used it to make a new door for his chicken coop. Said it was the best darn door them chickens ever had. Another time, I saw someone use it to make a real purdy sign for their farm stand. You can even make those race car thingys, those… whatchamacallits… spoilers, yeah, that’s it! And the insides too, the panels and such. You can also make cooking pots and pans with some of that stuff, but not this one, you need a different kind for that. This aluminum stuff, it’s good for a lot, I tell ya.
Different kinds of aluminum, you say?
Yep, there’s different kinds. Like them numbers they talk about, 1100, 3003, and 6061. Don’t ask me what they mean, but they’re different. Some are stronger, some are cheaper. This 6061 stuff, they say it’s real good, but it costs more. The 1100, that’s cheaper but you can’t use it for everything. And that 3003, they use that for makin’ pots and pans and such. This .090 4×8 sheet, well, you gotta know what kind it is for what you wanna do, ya know? For most things around the house or farm, the regular kind is just fine. Like, if you’re building a little tool shed or something, you don’t need the fancy stuff.
Where to buy it?

You can get it at them stores that sell metal, like that Tractor Supply place, or online too. Lots of places sell it. Just gotta look around. Some places, they cut it for ya, to the size you need. That’s handy if you don’t need a whole big sheet. But if you’re gonna be usin’ it a lot, might as well get the whole 4×8. Always good to have extra, you never know when you might need it.
Thickness and sizes, what’s the deal?
Now, they got all sorts of thicknesses, like that .090, but they also got thinner ones and thicker ones. The thin ones, like .040 or .060, they’re good for light stuff, but if you need somethin’ strong, you want the thicker stuff, like .080 or even .125. And the sizes, well, they come in all sorts, but that 4×8 is real common. You can get longer ones and shorter ones, wider ones and narrower ones, but the 4×8, that’s a good all-around size, like I said before. For building stuff around the house and yard, .8mm to 1.2mm is what they use, that’s a bit thicker you know, stronger. Like for doors and windows in a house.
Taking care of it
You gotta be careful with it though, it can scratch easy. When you buy it, it usually comes with some kinda plastic cover to protect it, but once you start workin’ with it, it’s gonna get scratched up some. That’s just the way it is. But it don’t hurt it none, just makes it look a little more… used. But one thing nice about it, you can recycle this stuff, they can melt it down and make new stuff out of it, ain’t that somethin’?
So, there you have it, all about that .090 aluminum sheet, the 4×8 kind. Good stuff, handy stuff, lasts a long time if you take care of it. Now, go on and get yourself a sheet and start buildin’ somethin’!

And another thing, some stores might have all sorts of sizes, while others might not, so you gotta check around, see who’s got what. And when they ship it to you, they pack it real good, so it don’t get all bent up. I heard one fella say it came packed in somethin’ like a honeycomb, that’s clever I guess.
